Looking Good in Cyber
Nothing says anarchy like a post apocalyptic sex goddess in a silver PVC dress! When I started out in the Goth scene, I came from a world where band t-shirts and black jeans meant you passed as a Goth. I absolutely LOVED the cyber punk style with its tough yet super sexy style however I had no idea how to bring the whole outfit together. Here are a few things that I have learned over the years of investigation into this futuristic fashion.

What Is It To Be What We Are?
I was scrolling through a few dark culture forums the other day, reading posts here and there and I came to a forum where someone had posted a picture. The picture was relatively artistic in nature with high contrast and deep color saturation. Obviously this picture had been professionally taken. At first glimpse the content was of a ânaughty nurseâ however that description proved to be an understatement. There was latex everywhere! The woman was leaning over, her white latex corset came just under her breasts and her nipples were taped over with white pasties in the shape of a medical cross. In her left hand she held a needle and on her face was a smug, yet seductive smile. My first opinion was that the picture was the epitome of what *I* knew to be âgothicâ style but to my surprise, peoples comments did not reflect my assumption.

The Art of Denialle Chabot
Welcome to the world of dark arts and crafts. Welcome to the land on which the preschool macaroni crafter would not dare tread. This is the realm where Denialle Chabot lives. Call it functional art or dark crafting, but either way this is not your mother’s hand-crafted home decor.

Last month we took a look at Shannon’s story regarding the start of GOTHIC. She had so much to say about her organization that we couldn’t fit it all in one article. This month we get down to some of the basic questions that you might ask if you had the opportunity.

Album Reviews
Crud
Devil at the Wheel
A good little piece of dirty industrial rock, this album will remind you of the sleaze that was La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume 666 by White Zombie, but in such a good way. This album is raunchy goodness to the last drop. If I had to choose between a sandwich and this album I would buy the album.

See the Family in Style
(And don’t give Grandma A Coronary)
There’s an obvious chill in the air these days. Leaves are turning gold, amber, and crimson and I love it! Jack Frost has already nipped at my nose and I fear we will not see the sun for many moons now. It’s time for Fall to turn towards Winter. With November, comes my favorite time of year–the beginning of the holiday season! Unfortunately, it is also the most nerve-wracking time of year for me and not for the reasons you would typically expect.

Collide started with Statik and kaRIN meeting in an Industrial club in the mid nineties and has developed into an undeniable force in the Goth scene. With their trademark sound and five albums under their proverbial belt, Collide has become a trendsetting group that many now quote as being influential on their sound and performance. Statik and kaRIN have collaborated with members of Nine Inch Nails, Tool and Skinny Puppy and have contributed music to soundtracks for movies. As well, both Statik and kaRIN have worked with groups on other productions making them noteworthy across many fronts. kaRIN was kind enough to sit down with Gothic Angst Webzine and answer some questions amidst their busy schedule.

Corsets: A Deep Breath and In-Depth Look
So as many of you may have noticed, we ladies on the scene are mad for corsets, over-bust, under-bust, waist-cincher, you name it and we wear it, have it, or want it. There is much more to wearing and caring for corsets than you may think, though. I, in my never ending quest for knowledge, have mercilessly interrogated (meaning, I actually asked) a girlfriend who worked at Frederick’s, and scoured the web pages of many a corsetiere, to bring you the best advice on the fit and care of corsets.

Thanksgiving at Home
We sat around the stretching table,
We held hands,
Bowing our heads.
The candles shone bright across our faces,
Reminding us of our bounty.
I held on to momâs hand tightly,
And brotherâs hand grasped mine.

Goth Culture: The Third Generation
What It Means To Be Goth:
One Woman’s Perspective
As it exists in the present day, itâs hard to imagine that the Goth subculture came from the same root as the current punk scene. Goths are to punks what vampires are to werewolves, evolved from the same ancestor yet as different as siblings can get. When I think of punk, I associate it with hot pink mohawks, sleeveless jean-jackets with Dead Kennedys and anarchy patches on the back, and the all purpose red tartan taper slacks (adorned with an appropriate number of chains and zippers, of course).
