Lacuna Coil
Karmacode
If you like gothic/symphonic metal like I do, youâre probably wondering if Lacuna Coilâs Karmacode is an album worth checking out. Out of all the albums Lacuna Coil has released, Karmacode is my least favorite. The combination of guitar lines, keyboard work, and contrasting dual female/male vocals help create their melodic sound. The thing I like best about Lacuna Coil is that they always seem to create music that goes perfectly with Scabbiaâs voice. However, in this album they keep the same beat and rhythmic patterns time after time which makes the album really boring. It would seem they have abandoned their old music style to satisfy the likings of a more mainstream audience even though they are pretty well known. I’m not very happy with this album due to this sort of “selling out”. I wouldn’t recommend this album to new fans of this band. If they liked the newer stuff more, itâs not a good thing because they will be missing out on timeless classics from the band.

Man and Machines
Self-Titled EP
Not just another Horror-electro group. They give the whole notion of horror-electro a new spin by adding a dual gender sound to their work. The work is cohesive, alluring, a little scary and very dance-able. Nothing like Blood, Guts Rhythm and Steel to get your blood pumping.

Make a Gothy Jewelry Box
This month Rebecca was talking to me and telling me that she realizes that lots of Goths have a ton of jewelry. With this in mind, they need some place to store it. Personally I am guilty of being particularly bad about how I store my silver. So, the solution is, of course, a jewelry box! This one takes some prep and a little bit of forethought, so itâs probably best to give yourself a bit of time to gather everything that you will need for the project.

Vampire Love
By: Casanova Shamdil
She waits for her victims to come present. The beautiful cemeteriesâ cold mist filled the spot on her pale face. She wishes not to kill; but more to love. She cannot love, for what she is a specimen of human off spring-yet to be discovered by the technology unknown. Behind the tree in the graveyard she waits, and finally, she spots a boy. The boy was about the age in his mid teens, approaching adulthood; he visits his fatherâs grave in mourning. Alcoholism killed him, and he continues to weep, so many people do not understand him. She watches, clad in black as he is, but she had the feeling at first sight that he was different. Yes he, visiting his fathers fameless grave. It had been there for years. How she knows this, she reads the blood of humans with her mind, yet not the same as tasting the delicious blood.

More Accessories to Die For
As noted at the end of my last column, our crowd has more accessories to work into our wardrobe than your average normie. Along with the usual earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings, there are other accessories to be worked into a good club outfit. We Goths get to play around with things like arm-warmers, gloves, and hair/dreadfalls.

The Newest Goth: Gothic Belly Dance
We all know the traditional Goth styles: the Goth-a-Billy, the Punker, the Vampire, the Death Rocker, the Cyber-Freak, the RivetheadâŚ.etc. But have you met the newest student to the class? Everyone, meet the Belly Dance Goth.
Now I know what you are thinking. âWait a minute, Belly Dance!?!?!? Where in the wide world of Goth does that come into play? What can Belly dance (thatâs that Egyptian thing where they wear a lot of sequins and rat their hair really big, right?) and goth possibly have in common??â Believe it or not, they have a LOT in common. Let me âsplain. No, there is too much, let me sum up: Full Story »

Cindergarden
Underground Light Machine
This is darkwave. This is electrogoth. Jaymie redefines what dark electronic and dark ambient should be with this album. The tracks are strong, expressive, emotive and accessible. The whole album is expertly executed and aims to strike a chord with your deepest emotions and darkest thoughts. By the end of the album you are left aching for more. Exquisite darkness that is painfully wonderful.

The Third Generation
Asherra needed a little time off so this month I am filling her spot in the columns.
Being that I am from a slightly older Goth camp than Asherra, then I thought that it might be nice to reminisce on what Goth was in earlier years. This thought was majorly inspired by the fact that I got a copy of âA Life Less Lived: The Goth Boxâ for Christmas. This is a collection of songs that have helped shape the face of Goth as it is today.
A thought from a relatively young Goth on a bulletin board has been bothering me for about a month now and I thought that it was time I aired my grievances. The sentiment was something like this: Full Story »

In the Hands of Rich Friend
Self taught and self made artist, Rich Friend started making art in the form of music. As he got older he found himself in a prime position to start working in visual arts. Now he works as a cartoonist in the new Batman comic. Although he does not claim to be a Goth artist, avoiding the cliches of Tim Burton-esque look, Rich says that he has a certain kinship with the Goth community.
