Album Reviews

Cindergarden
Underground Light Machine

This is darkwave. This is electrogoth. Jaymie redefines what dark electronic and dark ambient should be with this album. The tracks are strong, expressive, emotive and accessible. The whole album is expertly executed and aims to strike a chord with your deepest emotions and darkest thoughts. By the end of the album you are left aching for more. Exquisite darkness that is painfully wonderful.

Cylab
Satellites

I couldn’t ask more from an album than what Satellites has to offer. This is a perfect blend of trip-hop of the Portishead and Sneakerpimps ilk, and industrial backgrounds. This album has tracks that are both for dance and relaxation. The melodies are wonderful and the arrangements are outstanding. Every fan of good electronica should seriously consider purchasing this album.

Starlit
She Was a Spicy She-Wolf

Do you like your industrial rock with some glamour? How about the other way around? Either way you can get all of this and more with Starlit’s album. With Simara Rose’s strong delivery, and a blend of industrial rock and girlish good looks, this album is fresh and different. Well worth looking into.

Older Albums

Bella Morte
As the Reasons Die

If you like their newest release, “Bleed the Grey Skies Black,” then you must get Bella Morte’s previous Metropolis release “As the Reasons Die.” Although not always as rock driven, “As the Reasons Die” is a strong electro-punk album with an old school Goth ethic. If you long for the feel of old punk-influenced Goth-rock, look no further. Old Goth is definitely not gone, it’s simply relocated to this band.

Cylab
Unparallel Universe

If Cylab’s universe isn’t parallel to ours then the intersection is amazing. Being the first release from Cylab, it is easy to see where they came from to write the 8th wonder of the modern world known as Satellites. The influences they draw from are just as clear on their first album as their second. Be forewarned that this album is as addictive as any drug and you may not be able to live normal life without your daily fix.
